WELCOME TO BERNA’S BAKERY & CAFE

Traditional Turkish breakfast at Bernas Bakery and Cafe in Issaquah with cheeses, olives, fresh bread, fruits and tea

Berna's Bakery & Cafe is a scratch bakery, neighborhood café, and authentic Turkish restaurant on NW Gilman Blvd in Issaquah, Washington and from the moment you walk in, that's exactly how it feels.

A Real Scratch Bakery in the Heart of Issaquah

Berna's is a bakery first — a place where the oven runs early and the day's baking is done before most people have had their first cup of coffee.

Golden simit fresh from the oven. Flaky börek layered by hand. Chocolate cakes, tahini cookies, jelly buns, mozzarella buns, and a full case of savory pastries that changes with what Chef Berna is feeling that morning. None of it comes from a mix. All of it is made here, in our kitchen, for you.

If you live in Issaquah and you haven't found us yet — we're right here on Gilman Blvd, and we'd love to become part of your morning.

Authentic Turkish Breakfast & Food — The Real Thing

In Turkey, breakfast isn't a quick meal. It's a reason to gather.

Our Breakfast Party Spread is the fullest version of that tradition — a table set with cheeses, olives, house-made jams, fresh vegetables, clotted cream and honey, garlic carrot cream, and a copper pan of Menemen eggs, with simit and warm bread buns and endless tea or coffee. It's built for two or three people and made for sharing. Guests who order it once almost always come back for it again.

If you're coming solo or want something more focused, our egg dishes Menemen, Sujuk & Eggs, Kavurma & Eggs, and Pastirma & Eggs — are each made to order and each rooted in a different corner of the Turkish kitchen.

Beyond Breakfast

Beyond breakfast, our menu runs deep. Manti — tiny beef dumplings with garlic yogurt, tomato sauce, and sumac butter — is one of the most painstaking dishes in Turkish cooking and one of our most loved. House Kofte, Kavurma Pilav, and Chicken Shawarma round out a menu that treats every plate as something worth making properly

And for something lighter: our mezze platter brings six house-made dips and starters to the table — hummus, fire-roasted eggplant, muhammara, jajik, yaprak dolma, and garlic carrot cream — with house-baked bread and a quiet reminder of why Turkish appetizers deserve a course of their own.

All food is prepared to Zabiha halal standards. We offer gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options throughout the menu.

Turkish Coffee & Café — A Slower Kind of Morning

We also serve some of the best coffee in Issaquah — just not the kind you're used to.

Turkish coffee is ground fine, simmered slowly in a copper cezve, and poured without rushing. It's a ritual as much as a drink, and our café on Gilman Blvd is the right setting for it. Pair it with a pastry, open your laptop, or just sit with someone you've been meaning to catch up with.

We also brew traditional Turkish çay, and our drinks menu includes house hibiscus iced tea brewed from real flowers, an iced matcha latte, house iced coffee, and Italian sodas made to order. There's something here for everyone at your table.

Made With Love by Chef Berna

Chef Berna built this bakery from her own hands and her own heritage. She trained as a chef, brought her Turkish culinary roots to Issaquah, and has been cooking from scratch here every day since. The warmth you feel when you walk in isn't an accident — it's the direct result of a person who genuinely loves feeding people.
